Filodivino Wine Resort & Spa, San Marcello, Italy
Drainroof was used to reduce the carbon footprint of Filodivino Wine Resort & Spa in San Marcello, Italy, by increasing green areas and the energy efficiency of the building.
Filodivino is a winery and spa resort surrounded by the hills of the Marche region. Designed by architect Cristiana dell’Acqua from Studio dell’Acqua, this 2.500 m2 structure was built into the terrain, blending with the sloping landscape.
While the underground location provided excellent insulation from the sides, our clients required a solution for the green roof. Being the largest exposed surface, the roof faced seasonal temperature changes critical for maintaining the building's energy efficiency.
Our experts recommended constructing the intensive rooftop garden with Drainroof 2.5, which enabled seamless integration into the surrounding hills and vineyards while fulfilling several technical tasks at once:
- Protecting the roof’s waterproofing membrane,
- Withstanding the movement and loads of pedestrian traffic,
- Adding a layer of soil and grass to the roof, increasing its energy efficiency,
- Improving rainwater retention and drainage to mitigate against roof flooding,
- Preserve green areas in the surrounding landscape, reducing the heat island effect.
The Filodivino green roof project was constructed by the Impernovo company.
